Foil Screen Printing in Vietnam

Foil printing is also a popular garment-printing technology in Vietnam. It is commonly used for printing on clothes, handbags, backpacks and shoes.

Foil screen printing in Vietnam works well with cotton and polyester fabrics with or without spandex. Nylon is a water-proof sportswear fabric that also looks nice with foil screen printing. First, printers add plastisol adhesive on fabric and cure it. (Note that foil leafs do not stick to water based ink.) Then they place the foil with the colored side up over the direct print. Next they use a heat press machine to press the foil onto fabric for 12 seconds. After that, they take the fabric out and cool the print. Finally, they peel the foil. The basic foil colors that are used in foil screen printing in Vietnam are silver and bronze. However, Vietnamese printing companies can provide you a wide range of colors like blue, green, purple and red.
Foil screen printing production cost is more expensive than discharge or cracking screen printing. One downside to foil screen printing in Vietnam is printing fine detail. Curing temperature is 80 to 160 degree Celsius. Its heat resistance is lower than 120 degree Celsius. Thus you cannot iron it directly because the foil will melt. To extend your foil printing clothing, you can wash the garment inside out with cold water and hang it to dry.

In summary, foil screen printing in Vietnam is vey easy to do. First step is adding adhesive onto the fabric and curing it. Second step is placing the foil sheet on fabric and peeling it. If you want to buy foil for foil screen printing, check out this Screen Printing website. It is an effective way to emphasize your garment designs with sunlight reflections and a smooth realistic metallic look.

Making Fabric

There are 5 steps to make fabric. The first step of making fabric is buying the yarn. Second, is knitting. Third, is dyeing and finishing. The fourth step is checking. And the last step is relaxing the fabric. This process is managed in many different ways and there are too many variables to describe here. Either the factory buys the finished fabric or the factory manages each step in-house or using different sub contractors. If you are buying on FOB terms you don’t have to get involved. It is the factory’s responsibility. What you need to know, is that it takes at least two weeks to make fabric from scratch.

Fabric checking is important for you to understand and clarify with the factory. The last thing you want is faulty fabric. The first problem is that faulty fabric delays your production and the second problem is that it is hard to get replacement fabric or get your money back. A good factory has a four-point fabric checking system. As soon as your sewing factory informs you that the fabric arrived, ask them for the fabric checking report. Understanding fabric production is key to shortening garment manufacturing lead time. Here is a great blog post that goes into more detail about fabric checking calculations.

The effect of this printing technology is evident by their names: glitter and shimmer. Your garment will glitter and shimmer in the light. This effect is similar to but more brilliant than metallic screen printing.

There are two ways to do glitter and shimmer screen printing.

1. You print a base layer on your garment then sprinkle small glitters on the wet ink. Then dry it. Now you have a finish with substantial glitter look. However this way takes a lot of time.

2. You print glitter and shimmer ink directly on your garment then use a flash curing machine to dry it.

Glitter and shimmer ink in Vietnam is a mixture of clear and color plastisol ink with many small glitter flakes that are made from an optimum blend of polyester materials. When you look at this kind of printing, you will see many tiny sparkles sparkling. It helps you to distinguish glitter and shimmer screen printing with metallic or foil screen printing. There are many different colors for you to choose like silver, gold, red, green or blue and etc.

To get the best result for glitter and shimmer screen printing, you must choose your mesh carefully. Different glitter sizes require different mesh counts. For example, you should use about 35 to 45 mesh count for glitter printing and 86-110 mesh count for shimmer printing because flakes in shimmer printing are smaller than glitter printing. But the effect is reverse. It means that glitter printing is more shinny and sparkly than shimmer printing. One more thing to remember, when you print on dark fabric, you should print a white under base before printing glitter or shimmer ink. It helps you to emphasize your printing well.

Glitter and shimmer screen printing works well with pure cotton fabric, pure polyester fabric and blends with spandex. It has a good elasticity and washing ability but you should turn your garment inside out and wash it in warm water. Unlike metallic screen printing, it is rough to touch and does not dull overtime. However, small flakes can drop out if base ink is not good quality. One more thing that is different is that you can use it to print on fine detail design.

Glitter and shimmer printing sparkle and reflect light vey well so it makes your clothing look bright and shiny. Accordingly, Vietnamese garment factories usually use this technology to manufacture clothing for women and children. Texsource Inc. is one of the best ink suppliers for glitter and shimmer screen printing in the world.
